How Many Disney Movies Are Coming Out in 2016
2021 has been a BIG year for Disney World!
Disney World just turned 50!
We've seen changing health and safety measures, new restaurants, new rides, and the start of the 50th Anniversary celebration. But even with all that, 2022 is going to be pretty big as well! Here's everything we know that's coming to Disney World next year.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser — March 1, 2022
First up on the list is the highly anticipatedStar Warshotel, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

This experience takes guests on a 2-day cruise-like expedition through the galaxy aboard the Halcyon. Throughout your stay, you'll participate in interactive stories, enjoy food from "other worlds," and learn about the inner workings of the ship.

Besides those things, you can partake in special missions or try activities like lightsaber training and games of Sabacc.

This new hotel/experience opens to the public on March 1st, 2022. General bookings are available beginning October 28th, 2021, with early booking windows for select groups like Annual Passholder and DVC members.

Throughout your 2-day stay, you'll be "onboard" the ship the whole time, except when you "dock" at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — Summer 2022
In the SUMMER of 2022, we'll be able to experience the all-new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT!

The new ride will be what's known as an omnicoaster, where the ride vehicles can rotate on the track to turn the guests to face the action happening around them.

We've had our first glimpse inside the ride building, and we're looking forward to finding out the official opening date sometime soon. We also had the opportunity to see the ride vehicle in person.

MagicBand+
There's a new type of MagicBand coming to Disney World, MagicBand+!
Several new options for MagicBand+!
The new accessory is filled with interactive features, including color-changing lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition.
Simple Mickey!
The new bands will allow guests to interact with the Disney Fab 50 golden character statues and the fireworks shows in the parks.

These bands will be available starting next year, and Disney Resort guests and Annual Passholders can get a discounted price!

Amazon's Alexa in Disney World Hotel Rooms
A new service called "Hey, Disney!" was just announced for Amazon's Alexa, and soon this new feature will be a complimentary option at Disney World Resort hotels! It will begin to roll out in 2022 as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

"Hey, Disney!" will be a virtual assistant that can introduce guests to Disney characters, set alarms (useful for those early morning wake-ups during vacation), answer questions, and even guide guests to surprises. You can check transportation wait times, park hours, and even make requests for deliveries to your room.

Mears Connect — January 2022
Disney's Magical Express transportation to and from the airport is being discontinued at the end of the year. However, it will soon be replaced by a paid transportation option on January 1st, 2022 — Mears Connect.

Pricing for the new shuttle depends on the number of guests in your party and the type of service that you book. If you're traveling in 2022, you can go ahead and reserve your spot on this new transportation option!

EPCOT Festival of the Arts — January 14, 2022
Of course, lots of fan-favorite events will return throughout the year, kicking off with the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, which will run from January 14th through February 21st, 2022!

This annual celebration of the Culinary,Visual, andPerforming Arts is a great way to kick off a New Year in Disney World.
And the event will see the return of the Disney on Broadway Concert Series in 2022, too!

Select Behind-the-Scene Tours in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom — February 6, 2022
Very few Backstage Tours have been available during Disney World's reopening phase, but February 6, 2022 will mark the return of FIVE of these unique experiences!

Interested guests can now book theKeys to the Kingdom Tour in Magic Kingdom. And four select tours will give participants the chance to see some of the star residents of Animal Kingdom up close: the animals that call the park "home!"

Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade — Magic Kingdom
Disney revealed that a new cavalcade calledDisney Adventure Friends Cavalcade will make its debut in 2022 in Magic Kingdom! Disney shared that this new Cavalcade will arrive "later this winter."

The new cavalcade will present the most characters in a cavalcade to date! Look forward to seeing friends like Nick and Judy, Baloo, Miguel, Merida, Moana, Elena, Toy Story characters, Clarabelle, and more!

Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire — Magic Kingdom
If you recall Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire, then you'll want to know that an enhanced version of this Cinderella Castle stage show in Magic Kingdom will make its debut in early 2022 as part of Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary. Get ready for Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire!

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival — March 2, 2021
Disney World's annual celebration of SPRING — the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival — is scheduled for March 2 – July 4, 2022.

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort Reopening — March 31, 2022
Disney's All-Star Sports Resort was originally scheduled to reopen on December 9, 2021. However, in September 2021, Disney announced thatthe reopening of All-Star Sports had been delayed.

Disney shared that the reasoning for the closure is sothe Sports themed area could be refreshed at the hotel. But in late December 2021, it was announced that All-Star Sports will reopen onMarch 31, 2022! We're especially excited because once Disney's All-Star Sports Resort reopens that means ALL of Disney World's resort hotels will officially have reopened following the pandemic closures.

Fantasmic! — Disney's Hollywood Studios
Fantasmic! will also make its much-anticipated return to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Mickey and LOTS of friends (and a few foes) will take center stage once again in this nighttime spectacular on an as-yet-unannounced date in 2022! The production will even include an all-new sequence featuring new performers, new stunts, and new special effects.

Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! — Disney's Animal Kingdom
Disney has announced that a "reimagined" version of Animal Kingdom's Finding Nemo — The Musical will make its debut in 2022.It will be called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!

In the previous version of the show, fourteen original songs were performed by talented actors accompanying incredible puppets to bring the story of Marlin, Dory, Nemo and friends to life.The NEW production will take place during the events of the movieFinding Dory, and therefore set in the Marine Life Institute. As something of a sequel to the original show, we'll be able to catch up with the ongoing adventures of the characters!

Announced With No Opening Timeline:
Moana — Journey of Water — EPCOT
If you're excited about new offerings coming to EPCOT as part of the park-wide transformation, then you definitely need to check out Moana — Journey of Water. This new walkthrough attraction will be coming to the World Nature section of the park and will allow guests to interact with water in new and unusual ways, just like Moana does in her film!

An opening date hasn't been announced yet for this attraction, but based on a report from USA Today, it seems to be delayed until after 2021. Right now, guests who want to learn more about this upcoming offering should check out the EPCOT Experience, where the concept art of Moana — Journey of Water is on display in the short film.

Connections Café and Eatery — EPCOT
A brand new Quick Service restaurant is coming to EPCOT's World Celebration: Connections Café and Eatery!

Disney announced this upcoming dining option in November 2021 with a glimpse of the concept art for the location. We're excited to share more information with you — from cuisine to an opening timeline — right here as soon as it is revealed!

More of the EPCOT Transformation
And speaking of things coming to EPCOT, let's talk about the transformation as a whole. When Disney revamps an entire park, it's likely to be a multi-year process, and with the delays caused by the pandemic, it's unclear when EPCOT's full-scale remodel will be completed.

However, we recently got the addition of the Creations Shop, Club Cool, and Space 220 in the park, and with the announced opening of Cosmic Rewind next summer, it's likely that more construction walls will come down in the park and we may get to enjoy more of the new options coming soon!
Tron Coaster — Magic Kingdom
And finally, we need to discuss the elephant in the room…the Tron coaster. This project has been underway in Magic Kingdom for several years, and it isn't exactly secretive, considering you can see the construction clearly from several spots around the park. However, Disney has kept much information about this coaster under wraps.

It's another attraction that seems to have been delayed until post-2021, but unlike Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Disney hasn't even shared a potential timeline for opening. On the bright side, construction seems to be moving along, so maybe we'll get an upate soon!
